Job Summary
Global Energy Monitor (GEM) is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Manager to join its dedicated team.
The role involves managing GEM’s editorial calendar, supporting media relations, and transforming complex data into compelling narratives.
The successful candidate will work closely with GEM’s communications and program teams to support major reports, data releases, and other key projects from planning through publication.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Content Development
- Oversee GEM’s editorial calendar, including timelines, contributors, and approvals
- Provide editorial guidance for reports and briefings, ensuring quality and consistency
- Support the development, production, and pitching of media stories based on GEM data
- Write and edit communication materials such as media pitches, press releases, web content, and newsletters
Media and Digital Strategy
- Collaborate with the Digital Communications Manager to translate reports into messaging frameworks
- Work with the Data Visualization Analyst and Product team to create visually compelling data-driven graphics
- Support media outreach efforts, track coverage, and measure impact
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of five years’ experience in communications or journalism
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple stakeholders
- Attention to detail and strategic thinking capabilities
- Fluency in English
Preferred
- Knowledge of energy and climate policy landscape
- Established network of journalists in climate, energy, and related industries
- Proven experience in pitching and publishing in top-tier media
- Skills in data visualization tools (e.g., Flourish, Adobe Illustrator, Figma)
- Experience with project management software (Trello, Asana)
Compensation & Benefits (US-Based)
- Salary: $106,483.55 annually
