Overview
This position offers an opportunity for an experienced Social Media Associate to support the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation's communications and audience engagement strategy. The role is remote, part-time, and designed for professionals with strong digital communication skills and an interest in research, policy, and global issues related to violence and social science.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow HFG’s presence across LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, and YouTube.
- Maintain and update a structured social media content calendar.
- Create high-quality written and visual content aligned with HFG’s research focus.
- Promote the work of grantees, researchers, and institutional partners.
- Draft, edit, and publish multimedia posts.
- Monitor and engage with online audiences, including journalists and academic communities.
- Develop and implement platform-specific campaigns.
- Track performance metrics and analyze engagement data.
- Identify opportunities to connect current events with HFG research.
- Upload and manage video content, including event recordings and social clips.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong grammar and attention to detail.
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex academic concepts clearly.
- Experience creating multimedia content using tools such as Canva, Adobe, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in managing multiple social media accounts and content calendars.
- Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite or equivalent).
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Analytical skills to interpret social media metrics and optimize performance.
- Awareness of current events and ability to align content with trending topics.
