Overview

This role offers the opportunity to lead communications efforts for Greenpeace Africa, focusing on strengthening its public profile and influencing public discourse on climate justice and environmental protection across the continent and globally.

Key Responsibilities

Review and implement organizational communications strategy aligned with campaign objectives.
Position Greenpeace Africa as a leading voice on environmental issues.
Ensure alignment between communications, digital, campaigns, and fundraising efforts.
Work closely with teams to design and execute strategic communications plans.
Oversee media engagement, including press releases and interviews.
Manage brand and reputation, ensuring consistent messaging across outputs.
Lead and mentor a diverse communications team, fostering collaboration and inclusion.
Engage with stakeholders, representing the organization at various forums.
Establish KPIs to measure communications impact and analyze effectiveness.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field; a master's degree is an advantage.
8-10 years of experience in communications, media, or advocacy.
Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of African political and social contexts.
Fluency in English and French is strongly desired.
Exceptional strategic thinking and media relations skills.
Ability to work in high-pressure environments.
