    Role Overview

    WePlanet is seeking a strategic and dynamic Head of Philanthropy & Foundations to lead and develop its major foundations and high-net-worth individual (HNWI) fundraising programs.

    This senior role is designed to unlock the organization’s next growth phase by building a pipeline of philanthropic income capable of securing seven-figure commitments.

    The role is fully remote, autonomous, and offers the opportunity to shape a new fundraising function within a fast-moving, ambitious organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Major Foundations Pipeline

    • Build and own a diversified portfolio of six- and seven-figure foundation prospects
    • Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of top-tier foundation relationships
    • Write and oversee high-value proposals aligned with WePlanet’s strategic campaigns
    • Collaborate with program leads to develop compelling fundable propositions

    Major Donors and HNWI Engagement

    • Design and execute a major donor program from prospecting to stewardship
    • Create bespoke cultivation moments such as events and site visits
    • Support senior leadership in maintaining relationships with high-value donors

    Strategy Development

    • Contribute to overall fundraising strategy in partnership with leadership
    • Translate campaigns into compelling cases for support
    • Monitor philanthropic landscape and emerging funder priorities
    • Represent WePlanet at philanthropic networks and events

    Pipeline Management & Team Building

    • Manage and maintain the stewardship calendar for major relationships
    • Coordinate pitch teams for substantial funding opportunities
    • Take line management responsibility for the Grants Officer after initial three months
    • Track pipeline conversion rates and adapt strategies as needed

    Candidate Profile

    Essential

    • Minimum of five years’ experience in major gift, foundation, or institutional fundraising
    • Proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure commitments from foundations and HNWI donors
    • Experience building fundraising pipelines from scratch

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Strong proposal writing, strategic storytelling, and presentation skills
    • Autonomous, confident, and able to work effectively in a remote setting
    • Alignment with WePlanet’s ecomodernist values and advocacy for evidence-backed technologies

    Desirable

    • Experience working within small to mid-sized, entrepreneurial NGOs
    • Existing relationships within environmental, climate, or effective altruism communities
    • Cross-border fundraising experience in UK, Europe, or US
    • Collaboration with programmatic teams on policy or advocacy efforts
