With a presence across Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and North America, WePlanet is expanding its organizational capacity and is seeking a dedicated Grants Officer to support its strategic growth through effective grant management and fundraising.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Portfolio and Relationship Management
- Manage and oversee WePlanet’s grants from trusts, foundations, and institutional funders, ensuring compliance, reporting, and renewal timelines are met.
- Draft compelling proposals, support documents, and progress reports that communicate complex science-based campaigns to funders.
- Maintain strong relationships with mid-tier funders, supporting stewardship and engagement.
- Assist in identifying and researching new funding opportunities to diversify and strengthen the portfolio.
- Collaborate with the digital fundraising team to identify high-net-worth individuals within supporter networks.
Support for Major Proposals
- Partner with senior staff on major foundation and donor proposals, managing research, drafting, and submission processes.
- Lead the development of proposals for smaller and mid-tier foundations, ensuring timely and quality submissions.
- Support operational activities related to major donor stewardship, including meeting preparations and follow-up reports.
- Provide briefing and follow-up support for pitch teams on significant funding opportunities.
Systems and Processes
- Maintain accurate records in WePlanet’s CRM and grant management systems, ensuring data integrity.
- Build and optimize infrastructure within Microsoft environments (Teams, Power BI) to support a growing fundraising function.
- Manage the entire grant reporting and renewal cycle, collaborating across teams to ensure timely and compelling submissions.
- Keep leadership informed on progress toward targets, deadlines, and income goals.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Minimum of two years’ experience in grant writing, trusts, foundations fundraising, or related roles such as bid or policy writing.
- Proven experience working with US, UK, or European foundations, understanding their expectations and reporting standards.
- Excellent English writing skills, with the ability to translate scientific content into clear narratives for funders.
- Strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines and stakeholder relationships.
- Familiarity with data, budgets, and financial figures for proposals and reporting.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Teams, Office, and Power BI.
- Alignment with WePlanet’s ecomodernist values, including support for evidence-backed technologies such as nuclear power, GMOs, and alternative proteins.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote, international team.
Desirable
- Experience in environmental, climate, or international development NGOs.
- Familiarity with CRMs or grant management systems.
- Experience in startup environments or raising seed-stage funding.
- Additional European language skills.
