Overview
Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) is seeking a part-time Technical Consultant to support programs in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Key Responsibilities
- Support identification, reduction, substitution, and elimination of problematic plastics in healthcare settings.
- Incorporate chemical safety considerations into materials strategies.
- Document and share best practices for safer plastic use.
- Facilitate coordination of regional programs such as "Menos plástico, más salud" and "Menos huella, más salud".
- Engage GGHH members through meetings, webinars, and collaborative initiatives.
- Assist members with implementing procurement tools and criteria promoting safety and sustainability.
- Strengthen chemical safety practices in healthcare facilities and support alignment with chemicals frameworks.
- Collect and analyze data on plastics, chemicals, waste, and procurement.
- Develop training materials and learning resources, documenting case studies and best practices.
- Support the Menos huella, más salud awards process and develop stories highlighting achievements.
Requirements
- Background in health, environmental sciences, sustainability, engineering, chemistry, or related fields.
- Experience in environmental management within healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of plastics, chemicals of concern, and waste management.
- Understanding of healthcare procurement processes.
- Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English.
- Strong organizational, communication, and data analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently in a virtual environment.
Preferred
- Experience with plastic reduction, sustainability initiatives, or healthcare supply chains.
- Familiarity with circular economy principles and international frameworks (e.g., WHO, UNEP).
Benefits
- Part-Time with a schedule of up to 20 hours per week.
- Contract Duration: April 15, 2026 – December 31, 2026 (9 months).
Location
Fully Remote (must be based in Latin America and the Caribbean).
