    About the Organisation:
    GHIV Africa is a non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian and development organisation founded in 2014. The organisation works to improve access to quality healthcare services across African communities, particularly for vulnerable populations. Its interventions include health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and emergency response programmes aimed at improving overall well-being and reducing health disparities.

    Project Focus:
    This role supports a WASH-focused intervention aimed at improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services in conflict-affected and displaced communities. Activities include hygiene promotion, cholera prevention, borehole rehabilitation, and distribution of hygiene kits.

    Job Purpose:
    The Health Officer will lead hygiene promotion and cholera prevention activities, support community engagement, and drive behaviour change initiatives. The role involves supervising field teams, conducting household disinfection, monitoring community practices, and ensuring proper use of hygiene materials.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and supervise CLTS/CATI field teams
    • Implement hygiene promotion and public health interventions
    • Conduct community engagement and behaviour change activities
    • Support outbreak response and disease prevention campaigns
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff and volunteers
    • Ensure accurate data collection, reporting, and monitoring
    • Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders
    • Identify challenges and improve programme implementation

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Environmental Health, or related field
    • Minimum 2–3 years experience in public health or emergency health programming
    • Experience in cholera response, WASH, or outbreak response is highly desirable
    • Knowledge of disease surveillance, IPC, and CATI methodology
    • Strong community engagement and stakeholder management skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data collection tools (e.g., Kobo, CommCare)
    • Fluency in Hausa or Kanuri and working knowledge of English
