    JOB VACANCY – CHILD PROTECTION OFFICER (HARAF)

    Hope and Rural Aid Foundation (HARAF) is seeking a qualified and passionate professional to fill the role of Child Protection Officer in Yola, Adamawa State. This position is part of a community-based protection project designed to strengthen preparedness and response systems for flood-affected populations, with a strong focus on child protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) risk mitigation.

    Job Purpose:
    In response to increasing climate-related disasters, particularly flooding, HARAF is implementing interventions aimed at enhancing community resilience, strengthening protection systems, and ensuring timely identification, prevention, and response to risks affecting children and vulnerable groups. The Child Protection Officer will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of child protection activities in line with national and international standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan and implement child protection activities focused on flood preparedness, response, and recovery
    • Conduct protection and GBV risk assessments in affected communities
    • Support case management services including intake, referrals, follow-up, and case closure
    • Facilitate psychosocial support (PSS) and recreational activities for children
    • Establish and strengthen Child Friendly Spaces (CFS)
    • Train community members on child protection, safeguarding, and emergency preparedness
    • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, PSEA, and child protection standards
    • Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and sector partners
    • Collect data, monitor programme indicators, and prepare timely reports

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Education, or related field (Master’s is an advantage)
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in child protection programming
    • Experience in humanitarian or emergency contexts (especially flood response) is highly desirable
    • Strong knowledge of child protection principles, case management, safeguarding, and GBV risk mitigation
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality
    • Knowledge of local languages is an added advantage

    • High level of integrity and professionalism
    • Good organizational and time management skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

    Contract Details:

    • Location: Yola, Adamawa State
    • Employment Type: 6-month contract
    • Reports to: Program Manager
