    Health Promoter IEC Officer | Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – French Section

     

    Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, is an independent international humanitarian organization providing emergency medical care to populations affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. Founded in 1971, MSF operates in over 70 countries worldwide. MSF is currently recruiting for the position of Health Promoter IEC Officer in Katsina State, Nigeria.

    Position Details

    • Role: Health Promoter IEC (Information, Education, Communication) Officer
    • Location: Katsina, Nigeria
    • Contract Duration: 5-month fixed-term contract
    • Workload: 208 hours per month
    • Remuneration: Competitive salary based on MSF scale, including a 13th-month allowance

    Project Context
    MSF has been operational in Katsina since February 2021, supporting malnutrition treatment through Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centres (ITFCs) and Ambulatory Therapeutic Feeding Centres (ATFCs) across Katsina and Jibia LGAs.

    Role Overview
    The Health Promoter IEC Officer will implement community-based and facility-based health promotion activities, aiming to improve knowledge, behaviors, and access to healthcare services among patients and local communities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Community Engagement & Awareness

    • Educate communities on MSF services and key health topics
    • Conduct outreach sessions in schools, religious centers, and community spaces
    • Gather and report insights on community health behaviors and vulnerabilities

    Facility-Based Health Promotion (ITFCs)

    • Deliver daily health education sessions within ITFCs
    • Facilitate food demonstrations and sensitization sessions (e.g., SGBV, FGM)
    • Provide psycho-social support to caregivers
    • Conduct MUAC training for mothers and orientation for new patients
    • Support patient understanding of services and admission processes

    Monitoring & Support Activities

    • Promote hygiene and infection prevention practices within facilities
    • Monitor patient nutrition and provide feedback
    • Support laboratory follow-up and blood donation drives
    • Conduct patient satisfaction surveys

    Reporting & IEC Materials Development

    • Identify and communicate IEC material needs
    • Participate in the design of communication tools
    • Collect and submit weekly activity data and reports
    • Maintain organized and well-equipped education areas

    Requirements

    Education

    • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Social Sciences, Public Health, Community Health, or related field

    Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community mobilization, teaching, or social work (NGO/INGO experience preferred)

    Languages

    • Fluency in Hausa and English (required)
