Job Summary

The Lancet Countdown is seeking an expert or team to develop a scientifically rigorous indicator monitoring the mental health impacts of climate change-related hazards, in memory of Professor Tord Envold Kjellström.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Lancet Countdown team to ensure the indicator meets all criteria for inclusion in their annual global monitoring system.

About the Lancet Countdown and Professor Kjellström

The Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change is a global initiative that tracks progress on health and climate policies.

Professor Kjellström was a pioneering environmental and occupational health scientist whose work advanced understanding of environmental change impacts, occupational heat exposure, and climate-related health risks worldwide.

This project honors his commitment to rigorous science, public health, and climate action.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of a robust, scientifically sound indicator on the mental health impacts of climate change hazards.
• Collaborate with the Lancet Countdown team throughout the development process.
• Ensure the indicator adheres to Lancet Countdown’s criteria for indicators and is suitable for annual monitoring.
