Young climate advocates from more than 50 countries now have an opportunity to contribute to global climate policy discussions as Care About Climate (CAC) officially opens applications for its NDC Youth Ambassador Summer 2026 Cohort. The initiative seeks to empower young people to analyze their countries’ climate commitments through an intergenerational and gender-responsive lens while amplifying youth voices in national and international climate action spaces.

Applications for the program will remain open until July 10, 2026, with successful candidates participating in activities scheduled from August 7 to September 13, 2026.

Supporting Youth Engagement in Climate Policy

Care About Climate is a non-profit organization dedicated to removing barriers and creating pathways for young people to participate meaningfully in climate policy processes. Through its NDC Youth Ambassador program, the organization aims to strengthen youth involvement in evaluating climate commitments made under the Paris Agreement.

Under the Paris Agreement, countries are required to submit Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which outline national plans and commitments to mitigate climate change, adapt to climate impacts, and mobilize climate finance. While NDCs are often reviewed by governments, researchers, and policy organizations, analyses from youth and feminist perspectives remain limited.

The NDC Youth Ambassador initiative seeks to address this gap by engaging young leaders in assessing how climate commitments incorporate gender equality, intergenerational equity, and youth inclusion.

    What NDC Ambassadors Will Do

Selected ambassadors will spend approximately five weeks reviewing and analyzing their country’s NDC document. Participants will only be permitted to review the NDC of their own country to ensure that local youth perspectives are accurately represented.

To support participants throughout the program, Care About Climate will provide:

    • A stipend of USD 100
    • Training on NDC analysis methodologies
    • Guidance on reviewing climate commitments through gender and intergenerational lenses
    • Opportunities to contribute to broader climate policy discussions

The organization emphasizes that prior experience in climate policy is beneficial but not mandatory.
