Overview
The Nutrition Officer will provide technical support and lead the implementation of nutrition interventions within the project, ensuring alignment with national guidelines and global best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate quality nutrition screening for children under 5.
- Supervise outpatient therapeutic programme services.
- Deliver counselling sessions on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.
- Work with WASH, health, and child protection teams for integrated service delivery.
- Monitor nutrition commodities to prevent stockouts.
- Build capacity of local partners and health workers through coaching and training.
- Conduct nutrition assessments and surveys.
- Engage the community on appropriate nutrition practices.
- Support planning, budgeting, and reporting of project activities.
- Identify service delivery gaps and recommend improvements.
Requirements
- Certificate or Degree in Nursing, Nutrition, Health Sciences, or a related field with post NYSC experience.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in humanitarian or development settings.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition and health interventions.
- Experience working with government health systems.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English and at least one major Nigerian language.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
