    People Operations Manager – Remote (Sub-Saharan Africa)

    Lafiya is currently recruiting a People Operations Manager to join its growing team. The role is full-time and permanent, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. It is a remote position based in Sub-Saharan Africa, with compensation set at ₦24,000,000 gross per annum for Nigeria-based candidates, alongside additional benefits. Compensation for candidates outside Nigeria will be adjusted according to cost of living.

    About Lafiya

    Lafiya is a fast-growing non-profit organisation dedicated to improving access to contraception for women in underserved communities. Through its network of trained female health professionals known as “Lafiya Sisters,” the organisation delivers reproductive health services and information directly to communities with limited access. Lafiya currently operates across four states in Northern Nigeria, supporting over 650,000 women through its community-based model. The organisation is also expanding its supply chain systems and building partnerships to strengthen sustainable access to contraception across Nigeria and beyond.

    Role Overview

    The People Operations Manager will be responsible for both recruitment and human resources functions within Lafiya’s Operations team. This is a foundational role, as the organisation transitions from a startup to a scale-up and expands into additional countries.

    The role combines active talent acquisition with core HR management systems, making it central to organisational growth, team development, and employee experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    Recruitment (70%)
    The role involves leading full-cycle recruitment processes across both international and Nigeria-based roles. Responsibilities include:
    • Managing candidate pipelines and recruitment processes
    • Improving hiring systems, SOPs, and interview structures
    • Developing workforce planning and hiring forecasts
    • Coordinating communication between candidates and hiring managers
    • Ensuring structured, transparent, and efficient hiring processes

    Human Resources (30%)
    The role also covers core HR operations, including:
    • Onboarding and offboarding processes
    • HR information system (HRIS) management
    • Leave, absence, and benefits administration
    • Performance review cycle coordination
    • Compensation benchmarking and policy development

    Candidate Profile

    The ideal candidate should have:
    • 5–9 years of experience in HR, recruitment, or people operations
    • A Bachelor’s degree
    • Experience managing full-cycle recruitment and HR processes
    • Background in NGOs, international development, or mission-driven organisations
    • Strong organisational, communication, and systems-building skills
    • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
