The University of Oxford is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in African Studies at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA). This is a prestigious opportunity for early-career scholars to advance their research within a globally recognized academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct an independent and ambitious research programme in African Studies
Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals and academic presses
Present research at conferences, seminars, and academic forums
Contribute to shaping the “Africa and the World” research agenda at Oxford
Organize seminars, conferences, and collaborative research initiatives
Teach an option course aligned with their expertise
Supervise master’s dissertations in the MSc in African Studies
Actively participate in the academic community at OSGA and ASC

Requirements

Hold (or be close to completing) a relevant doctoral degree
Have completed their doctorate no earlier than three years before 1 January 2026
Demonstrate strong academic writing and publication potential
Show experience presenting research at conferences and seminars
Have a commitment to teaching and postgraduate supervision
