    Overview

    The University of Oxford is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in African Studies at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA). This is a prestigious opportunity for early-career scholars to advance their research within a globally recognized academic environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct an independent and ambitious research programme in African Studies
    • Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals and academic presses
    • Present research at conferences, seminars, and academic forums
    • Contribute to shaping the “Africa and the World” research agenda at Oxford
    • Organize seminars, conferences, and collaborative research initiatives
    • Teach an option course aligned with their expertise
    • Supervise master’s dissertations in the MSc in African Studies
    • Actively participate in the academic community at OSGA and ASC

    Requirements

    • Hold (or be close to completing) a relevant doctoral degree
    • Have completed their doctorate no earlier than three years before 1 January 2026
    • Demonstrate strong academic writing and publication potential
    • Show experience presenting research at conferences and seminars
    • Have a commitment to teaching and postgraduate supervision
