Principal Applied Scientist- AI @UiPath

Overview

UiPath is looking for a Principal Applied Scientist to lead the research and development of advanced AI systems aimed at enhancing enterprise automation. This role focuses on the integration of innovative AI technologies and requires a blend of applied research and production engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead research and development of large-scale foundation models and agentic AI systems for enterprise automation.
• Design novel approaches for post-training, model alignment, reinforcement learning, and synthetic data generation.
• Develop scalable evaluation frameworks to measure reasoning, tool use, planning, and task completion.
• Build production-quality AI systems that combine LLMs, multimodal models, and more.
• Drive innovations in reasoning, workflow generation, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to transition research into production systems.
• Mentor scientists and engineers, raising the technical bar across the organization.
• Influence UiPath's long-term AI strategy through technical leadership.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent research experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, Robotics, or related fields.
• Significant experience in production AI systems based on large language models or multimodal foundation models.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Experience in distributed training and fine-tuning large models.
• Strong publication record or demonstrated technical leadership in applied AI.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence direction across organizations.
• Deep expertise in key areas such as Foundation model training, LLM post-training, and Agentic reasoning.
