Overview

The role of Principal Engineer – Intelligent Document Processing & Context Grounding at UiPath involves building AI platforms that power trustworthy enterprise agents, focusing on enterprise AI systems that understand business context and deliver reliable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Build production AI systems.
• Design and deliver core services for document understanding, retrieval, knowledge grounding, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Own systems for document ingestion, parsing, extraction, chunking, embedding, indexing, retrieval, knowledge management, evaluation, and answer grounding.
• Drive improvements in retrieval quality, answer quality, groundedness, attribution, latency, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Solve distributed systems problems while maintaining reliability, security, and performance.
• Architect multi-tenant cloud services processing large volumes of content.
• Influence architectural decisions and mentor senior engineers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Applied Scientists, Designers, and Engineering Leaders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building large-scale software systems.
• Significant experience in shipping production AI products.
• Strong backend engineering experience in Python and/or C#.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of modern retrieval systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction.
