Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core components of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improve Elasticsearch's components for concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain the cluster coordination system to ensure high performance despite node fluctuations and data movement.
• Push the limits of Elasticsearch's handling capacity in terms of shards, nodes, and data volume.
• Troubleshoot performance and concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Support engineers in resolving challenging problems.
• Own operational investigations from start to finish until performance or stability issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with the standard library of data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Technical proficiency in algorithms.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to manage projects involving multiple engineers.
• Proven track record in utilizing AI for development acceleration, debugging, and code optimization.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and manage transitions between projects and teams effectively.
• Capacity to work autonomously and drive decisions in a distributed team environment.
