    PROJECT ASSISTANT (ONLINE LEARNING ASSISTANT) – REMOTE OPPORTUNITY

    The International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL) is inviting applications for the position of Project Assistant (Online Learning Assistant) within its Department of International Refugee Law and Migration Law. This is a remote consultancy role supporting international training programmes focused on refugee protection, migration law, and humanitarian education.

    About the Institute

    The International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL), founded in 1970 in Sanremo, Italy, is an independent non-profit humanitarian organization. The Institute delivers training and capacity-building programmes in international humanitarian law, human rights, refugee law, and migration-related fields.

    The Department of International Refugee Law and Migration Law works to strengthen the knowledge and skills of government officials, international organizations, civil society actors, and academics involved in the protection of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), stateless individuals, and migrants.

    The Institute holds consultative status with ECOSOC, participatory status with the Council of Europe, and observer status with UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

    Role Purpose

    The Project Assistant (Online Learning Assistant) will support the planning, organization, implementation, and follow-up of online training courses and capacity-building initiatives. Working closely with Course Coordinators, the role focuses on digital learning support, content development, and administrative coordination.

    The assistant will also help manage the Online Learning Platform and ensure smooth delivery of virtual training programmes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support planning and implementation of training courses and learning initiatives
    • Maintain and update the Online Learning Platform (e.g., Moodle)
    • Provide technical support for tools such as Zoom for Education and Mentimeter
    • Assist in developing interactive training materials and modules
    • Conduct research and prepare reports, infographics, and learning content
    • Design presentations using PowerPoint, Canva, and other tools
    • Manage communication with participants before, during, and after courses
    • Support translation of course materials and correspondence
    • Update databases and assist in reporting after course completion
    • Perform other administrative and programmatic tasks as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    • University degree in Educational Science, Digital Learning, Instructional Design, Social Sciences, or related field
    • Fluency in English and one additional language (Spanish, French, or Arabic)
    • Experience in online course organization or digital learning environments
    • Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Moodle, Zoom for Education, and Articulate 360
    • Strong graphic design and visual communication skills
    • Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently and in multicultural teams

    Desirable Skills

    • Experience in digital content creation (design, video, photography)
    • Knowledge of international law, migration, or humanitarian protection
    • Experience working with displaced persons or vulnerable populations
    • Familiarity with UN systems or international organizations
