Overview

The Rural Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure projects that support agricultural development, improving rural livelihoods, and ensuring climate-resilient engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and supervise rural infrastructure including water systems and irrigation.
Improve water access and management.
Promote climate-resilient engineering solutions.
Strengthen community participation in infrastructure projects.
Ensure compliance with conflict-sensitive and gender-inclusive approaches.
Assess and rehabilitate boreholes and irrigation systems.
Train water user committees on maintenance and distribution.
Construct erosion control structures to restore farmlands.
Support climate-smart irrigation and post-harvest storage solutions.
Supervise construction of community assets and rehabilitate roads.
Document lessons learned and project impacts.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in rural engineering or infrastructure development.
Strong knowledge of engineering principles and project management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
