Overview
The Rural Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure projects that support agricultural development, improving rural livelihoods, and ensuring climate-resilient engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and supervise rural infrastructure including water systems and irrigation.
- Improve water access and management.
- Promote climate-resilient engineering solutions.
- Strengthen community participation in infrastructure projects.
- Ensure compliance with conflict-sensitive and gender-inclusive approaches.
- Assess and rehabilitate boreholes and irrigation systems.
- Train water user committees on maintenance and distribution.
- Construct erosion control structures to restore farmlands.
- Support climate-smart irrigation and post-harvest storage solutions.
- Supervise construction of community assets and rehabilitate roads.
- Document lessons learned and project impacts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in rural engineering or infrastructure development.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and project management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
