Overview
The Safety and Security Officer at COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for COOPI employees and ensuring adherence to security procedures in North Central Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the security context and assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff and assets.
- Ensure that appropriate security systems and procedures are in place and adhered to.
- Support field operations in safety and security, especially in Benue and Plateau States.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of the security context and perceived threats.
- Provide training and engage in staff capacity development for security aspects.
- Collaborate with logistics and project teams to monitor movement and provide security guidance.
- Gather and report information regarding politics and security in Northern Central Nigeria.
- Regularly assess compliance with safety and security procedures during field activities.
- Maintain professional networks and participate in security meetings.
- Update and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for security.
- Assist in training related to security management and incident reporting.
Requirements
- A Higher National Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Security Operations, Criminology, Disaster Management, Public Administration, International Relations, or related fields.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages (Hausa) is desired.
- 3 years of security-related experience with UN/INGOs/CBOs.
- Proven ability to work effectively in complex security environments.
- Computer skills, including MS Office.
- Mandatory completion of NYSC service or exception certificate.
- Relevant certifications in security management are advantageous.
