Overview

Grafana Labs, the company behind Grafana Cloud, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Pyroscope team. This remote role is available to candidates in the UK, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Ireland, focusing on building the open-source continuous profiling database.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept to rollout, involving design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
• Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database, making trade-offs on performance, cost, and complexity.
• Translate customer pain points into manageable deliverables and help shape the product roadmap.
• Drive operational excellence by owning outcomes and reducing toil through automation.
• Collaborate with other teams in Grafana to enhance profile utility across platforms.
• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response and post-incident learning.
• Engage with the open-source community and contribute to the Pyroscope project.

Requirements

• Experience with a systems language, preferably Go, and familiarity with other programming languages.
• Proven experience building and operating distributed systems and cloud services.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and translate needs into deliverables.
• Strong software craftsmanship and operational mindset, with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Curiosity to challenge the status quo and improve product-market fit.
• Comfortable working in a fully remote environment and leading through written communication.
