Senior Backend Engineer - Databases Pyroscope | Spain | Remote @Grafana Labs

Overview

Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for its open-source continuous profiling database, Pyroscope, as part of their fully remote team. This position is available to candidates in the UK, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Ireland only.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept to rollout, including design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
• Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database, focusing on performance, cost, and complexity.
• Engage with customers to translate pain points into manageable deliverables and directly shape the roadmap.
• Drive operational excellence by owning outcomes against SLOs and unit cost targets, and reducing toil through automation.
• Collaborate with various teams across Grafana to ensure profiles are useful where engineers work.
• Participate in on-call duties and contribute to incident response as part of the craft.
• Contribute to the open-source Pyroscope project, engaging with the community and reviewing external contributions.

Requirements

• Solid experience with a systems programming language, particularly Go.
• Experience in building and operating cloud services and multi-tenant data systems.
• Strong product sense and ability to engage with customers effectively.
• Proven software craftsmanship with attention to code quality and maintainability.
• Experience in operational roles, treating reliability as a priority.
• Effective communication skills in a remote, asynchronous environment.
