Overview

Grafana Labs is a remote company known for its fully managed observability platform, Grafana Cloud. The company is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to work on Pyroscope, the open-source continuous profiling database that integrates with Grafana Cloud Profiles.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept to rollout, including read path efficiency improvements and trace-to-profile correlation.
• Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database, focusing on performance and cost efficiency.
• Engage with customers to translate pain points into deliverables and shape the product roadmap.
• Drive operational excellence and automate processes to reduce on-call incidents.
• Collaborate with other teams within Grafana to enhance profile usability.
• Participate in incident response and learning as part of the role.
• Contribute to open-source efforts by engaging with the community and managing contributions.

Requirements

• Solid experience with a systems language (Go preferred) and familiarity with other programming languages (Rust, C, C++, Python, Java).
• Experience with building and operating distributed cloud services.
• Strong product sense and ability to communicate effectively with customers.
• Curiosity, courage, and a mindset focused on operational excellence and software craftsmanship.
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote environment and communicate clearly in writing.
