Senior DataCenter Provisioning Engineer @Fastly

Overview

The Senior Data Center Provisioning Engineer at Fastly will be responsible for configuring and deploying servers, network devices, and supporting infrastructure. This role is crucial for expanding Fastly’s edge cloud platform, which serves a significant volume of content delivered to internet consumers globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision Points of Presence (POPs) including network devices, servers, and equipment, following established standards and processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve provisioning and service turnup issues.
• Collaborate with internal operations and infrastructure teams and external partners to support rapid expansion.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of provisioning standards and processes.
• Assist in the development of tools and automation systems to enhance provisioning efficiency.
• Support post-deployment validation and integration monitoring, handoff to Network Operations.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in network devices, server provisioning, system administration, or site reliability engineering.
• Strong understanding of the internet and TCP/IP with a focus on client/server data flow.
• Knowledge of IP routing, particularly BGP, and a comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP.
• Understanding of CDN operations and their role in the global internet infrastructure.
• Experience in a Linux environment and proficiency with automation tools like Git, Travis, Chef, Ansible, or similar.
• Ability to troubleshoot server, scripting, and network issues.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python.

Location

This position can be Hybrid or Remote within the US, with a preference for candidates near Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; or New York, NY.
