Senior Engineering Manager - Containers at Edge @Fastly

Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager for Containers at Edge will lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for architecting, deploying, and managing distributed container infrastructure at Fastly’s edge. The role focuses on ensuring low latency, high availability, and secure application delivery while fostering a culture of innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the long-term strategic vision and multi-year technical roadmap.
• Hire and develop a high-performing team, including software engineers and SREs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define clear roadmaps and priorities.
• Communicate strategy, progress, and risk to executive leadership and technical stakeholders.
• Contribute development expertise to the team's efforts.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience managing Software Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering teams.
• 10+ years of technical experience with distributed systems, CDN, or cloud infrastructure.
• Extensive hands-on experience in software development using Go, Rust, or C/C++.
• Experience building and automating large scale production infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of Linux environments and performance optimization.

Location

This position can be hybrid or remote for exceptionally qualified candidates within the US. Preferred locations include San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; and New York, NY.
