Overview
The role involves leading the team responsible for Dropbox’s data foundations, essential for business operations. The Senior Manager, Data Engineering will oversee a team of data engineers working on data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce a rigorous data quality culture including lineage, monitoring, and anomaly detection.
- Lead the engineering of the self-serve analytics platform to enhance partner-team autonomy.
- Manage the unit economics of the data platform, aiming for efficient compute and storage without sacrificing reliability.
- Partner with Data Science, Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Product to define data standards and contracts.
- Establish strong engineering practices, including code reviews, testing, CI/CD for data, and incident response.
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, promoting a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of data engineering or backend/data infrastructure experience.
- 3+ years managing and growing engineering teams.
- Proven experience building large-scale data pipelines using tools like Spark, dbt, and Airflow.
- Demonstrated ownership of data SLAs, observability, and incident response.
- Strong data modeling skills and ability to create semantic layers and data contracts.
- Excellent communication skills for alignment with various partners.
Benefits
Compensation for this role depends on the location in the US zoning system, ranging from $180,200 to $274,300 USD.
