Overview
The role involves leading the data engineering team responsible for Dropbox’s data foundations that power the business. The Senior Manager will oversee the development of data pipelines and products essential for various departments to make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce a rigorous data quality culture, including monitoring lineage, freshness, and anomaly detection.
- Lead the engineering of a self-serve analytics platform to enhance partner autonomy and reduce bespoke requests.
- Manage the economics of the data platform by optimizing compute and storage efficiency while maintaining reliability.
- Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, and Product teams to define standards and data contracts for trustworthy downstream work.
- Promote effective engineering practices, including code review, testing, CI/CD for data, and incident response.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of data engineers, fostering technical excellence and a culture of continuous learning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering or backend infrastructure, preferably in high-scale environments.
- 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including hiring and performance management.
- Proven track record in building and operating large-scale batch and streaming pipelines.
- Experience with data SLAs, observability, lineage, and incident response for critical data pipelines.
- Strong data modeling fundamentals and the ability to design semantic layers for stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills to align various business and technical teams.
Benefits
Compensation in Canada ranges from $209,100 to $282,900 CAD.
