Overview

The Senior Product Designer plays a crucial role in Coursera's success by translating learner and educator insights into design recommendations that enhance user experience. This position involves independent work on design features while collaborating with cross-functional partners to create simple, elegant design solutions that contribute to making education accessible.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver clarity on direction, scope, and impact for individual projects, translating research insights into workflows, visual design, and detailed interactions.
• Convey a strategic perspective informed by business and market insights while taking ownership of larger strategic initiatives.
• Break down and sequence work into executable deliverables, planning for iteration and continuous improvement.
• Create systematic design solutions that meet high usability and aesthetic standards, supporting efficiency and scale.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists to bring products from definition to launch.
• Combine insights from multiple sources to inform cohesive design recommendations with success metrics and guardrails.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of experience as a UX or Product Designer, with a portfolio showcasing work across the full product lifecycle.
• Proficiency in core UX methods, including user research, user flows, information architecture, wireframes, and prototypes.
• Experience in interaction and visual design, contributing to established design systems.
• Ability to design responsive, mobile-first experiences guided by user research and insights.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and FigJam.
• Strong communication skills to convey design rationale and influence cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with AI in the design process using tools like Claude Code alongside Figma.
