Senior Search Engineer @Xero

Overview

This role is for a Senior Search Engineer on Xero's Search team, focused on maintaining and evolving one of the largest search clusters in the Southern Hemisphere. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to significant platform rebuilds while ensuring high uptime for a vast volume of searchable documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the search cluster for hundreds of millions of documents at global scale.
• Contribute to generalist engineering work and lead projects.
• Raise and review pull requests to ensure code quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on ingestion pipelines and platform development.

Requirements

• Strong experience in search engineering and building scalable search systems in production.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to contribute to various engineering tasks.
• High standards for code quality and a commitment to proper practices.
• Natural ability to work collaboratively across distributed teams.
• Bonus: Exposure to data or AI tooling.
