Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Compute Platforms @Five9

Overview

Five9 is a leading provider of cloud contact center software, focused on enhancing customer experience. They are seeking a highly experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Compute Platforms to work on designing, implementing, and supporting Kubernetes on bare metal and hypervisor platforms in a private cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of enterprise compute and hypervisor platform solutions.
• Define standards and automation frameworks for bare metal provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Design and implement Bare Metal as a Service (BMaaS) capabilities for scalable infrastructure consumption.
• Architect and design Kubernetes platforms on bare metal.
• Design PXE-based provisioning environments leveraging Redfish APIs for large-scale server deployments.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, and Git.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure updates and testing.
• Collaborate globally on change management and operational best practices.
• Participate in on-call escalation support.
• Produce detailed design documentation and operational handoff materials.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or DevOps.
• Experience designing and automating bare metal compute environments.
• Hands-on experience with PXE boot and automated server imaging.
• Deep expertise with Ubuntu Linux and KVM hypervisors.
• Strong background with enterprise compute hardware platforms.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience.

Location

This role is fully remote for candidates outside a 30 mile radius of an office; hybrid for those residing within that radius.
