    Overview

    The Senior Site Reliability Engineer I at Braze is responsible for maintaining the reliability of internal-facing services and platforms, ensuring system reliability and infrastructure uptime. This role involves working closely with product engineering teams to translate high-level requirements into scalable technology stacks.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead NGINX & Kubernetes Ingress Infrastructure
    • Architect and operate ingress fleets for real-time API traffic management.
    • Own and expand automated scaling routines for high-throughput API services.
    • Partner with product teams to translate product requirements into resilient architectures.
    • Establish Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Objectives (SLOs) for API services.
    • Conduct systems design, bottleneck profiling, and capacity planning.
    • Participate in a PagerDuty on-call rotation, resolving alerts and preventing incidents.
    • Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and implement system improvements.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience as a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer in a high-scale environment.
    • Deep hands-on experience with NGINX, including configuration and troubleshooting.
    • In-depth proficiency with Kubernetes administration and orchestration.
    • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix fundamentals.
    • Programming/scripting skills in Ruby, Go, or similar languages.
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform.
    • Understanding of systems design and distributed architectures.
    • Excellent documentation and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment.
