Senior Software Engineer - Airflow Infrastructure, NYC @Astronomer

Overview

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Airflow Infrastructure team as part of the Astro cloud platform. This role involves building infrastructure that connects the open-source Airflow ecosystem to scalable cloud infrastructure, impacting how global organizations manage data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer backend services with high quality, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, customer support, and leadership to achieve business goals.
• Engage in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of existing services.
• Investigate and propose improvements to user experience.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for systems and processes.
• Participate in on-call rotation, troubleshooting incidents as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in building and delivering SaaS products.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Golang.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience with integrating RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks, such as pytest.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Focus on reliability and operational excellence.
• Ability to coordinate work cross-functionally and ensure successful delivery.
• Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.

Benefits

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $210,000 - $250,000, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package.

Location

This role embraces a hybrid work model with at least 3 days per week in the New York City office.
