Key Responsibilities
- Shape the future of AI for data engineering, building intelligent systems that optimize data flow.
- Design and engineer components for Astronomer’s context layer to enhance data modeling and semantic search.
- Experiment with LLMs and cutting-edge retrieval techniques to create insightful developer tools.
- Collaborate with R&D and product teams to transform research concepts into product features.
- Tackle high-impact information retrieval challenges on a global scale using Astronomer’s data pipeline visibility.
- Influence the technical vision for next-generation AI-driven data products.
- Represent Astronomer in the community through open-source contributions and technical talks.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of software engineering experience with Python or Go.
- Empathy for users and interest in improving data professionals' workflows.
- Familiarity with early-stage product development and comfort with ambiguity.
- Experience or strong desire to work with LLMs, vector databases, and applied AI.
- Creative mindset with a passion for exploration and learning through iteration.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to thrive in an evolving, research-driven environment.
Benefits
Estimated total compensation ranges from $210,000 - $250,000, including equity and a comprehensive benefits package.
Location
Hybrid work model, with at least 3 days per week in the New York City office.
