The Senior SRE - Networks role involves building and operating the infrastructure that powers Fastly's Edge Cloud Platform, contributing to a significant global network.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and maintain the global network footprint of Fastly’s Edge Cloud Platform.
• Respond to significant traffic incidents and lead network incident resolutions, particularly in IP routing, especially BGP.
• Write performant and maintainable code, contribute to code reviews, and improve team processes.
• Develop tools and automation systems to enhance network operations.
• Innovate methods for monitoring network performance and address potential issues.
• Analyze performance-based analytics and collaborate with partner teams to maintain a performant global network.
• Advocate for network operational stability by collaborating with engineering teams.
• Mentor team members on global routing complexities.

Requirements

• Experience in protocols that make up the internet fabric including TCP/IP, BGP, Anycast, and DNS.
• Experience in Automation and coding using languages like Python.
• Proficiency in Tier 1 Internet service providers and cloud providers.
• Ability to analyze internet traffic patterns using flow-based tools.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Graphite/Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
• Knowledge of cloud hosting solutions (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Understanding of Linux/Unix systems administration and network optimisation.
• Adept at knowledge sharing and creating documentation.
