Overview

Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams think together. As a Software Engineer on Collections Infra, you will help scale the infrastructure behind Notion’s database block to improve performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand how Collections Infra supports Notion’s database block and ship improvements to database performance or reliability.
• Use AI as a collaborator for learning, debugging, and pressure-testing implementation plans.
• Contribute to making databases faster and more reliable at P95 scale.
• Raise the quality of Collections infrastructure through better architecture and documentation.
• Partner with senior engineers and product-facing teams to evolve Collections as a platform.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals with interest in performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Curiosity about distributed systems and microservices; ability to learn quickly is essential.
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript is preferred.
• Motivated problem solver who seeks to identify real bottlenecks.
• Self-guided learner who uses various resources to build context and progress.

Benefits

Notion offers highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The estimated base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 per year.

Location

This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City.
