Software Engineer, Java (Asset Systems) @Bitpanda

Overview

The role involves working as a Software Engineer within Bitpanda’s Trade Hub, helping to design, build, and scale core systems that power their trading ecosystem. Bitpanda aims to support users in achieving their financial freedom through a secure, user-friendly platform for trading various assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java 25 & Micronaut.
• Write clean, maintainable code with at least 80% unit test coverage, including end-to-end and integration testing prior to deployment in an event-driven microservices architecture.
• Optimize payment modules/services for reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Drive innovation by researching and adopting latest trends and technologies in backend development.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in software development using modern frameworks such as Micronaut or Spring Boot, with Java as the main programming language.
• Understanding of relational and non-relational databases (bonus points for experience with Postgres and MongoDB).
• Experience creating and maintaining publicly available REST APIs, focusing on performance optimization and scalability.
• Practical knowledge in using message-oriented middleware, ideally Apache Kafka or ZeroMQ.
• Understanding of CI/CD and familiarity with any public cloud; AWS and Kubernetes experience is desirable.
