Overview
Solar Panda Kenya Limited is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer for a primarily remote role, requiring collaboration with engineering counterparts in Canada. The position involves driving system architecture and technical vision while remaining hands-on in backend and full-stack development.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture and Technical Leadership: Define and drive architectural direction, design secure and scalable systems, make strategic technology decisions, and lead integration initiatives.
- Team Mentorship and Engineering Excellence: Coach and mentor software developers, conduct code reviews, and promote continuous improvement and innovation.
- Backend and Full-Stack Development: Build backend services using Java or Scala, design APIs, optimize microservices, and work with TypeScript, Node.js, and ORM tools.
- Frontend and UI Development: Develop responsive single-page applications using Angular, build UI components with Tailwind CSS, and ensure performance optimization.
- Mobile Application Development: Design and build high-performance Android applications, integrate with backend APIs, and support mobile architecture best practices.
- Quality Assurance and DevOps: Define coding standards, implement secure development practices, integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, and work within Agile frameworks.
Requirements
- University or college degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 7–10 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
- Experience using TypeORM or similar ORM frameworks.
- Demonstrated expertise in microservices architecture.
- Proven leadership and mentorship experience within engineering teams.
- Backend development using Java or Scala.
- Frontend frameworks such as Angular.
- Styling and UI development using Tailwind CSS.
- Android mobile application development.
- CI/CD pipeline implementation.
- Automated testing frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
