Specialist Cloud Database Engineer (SQL, DevOps, AWS) @NiCE

Overview

NiCE is hiring a Database DevOps & Release Engineer for its Data Engineering and Database Operations team. This role requires strong SQL and T-SQL skills, along with a working knowledge of DevOps and GitOps principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve pull requests for database changes to ensure code quality and deployability.
• Package database changes into deployable artifacts using DACPAC, SLN, and manifest files.
• Build, manage, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
• Coordinate database deployments alongside production application code changes.
• Apply GitOps principles to database change management.
• Use Redgate SQL Compare to validate schema changes during the deployment process.
• Develop and optimize SQL and T-SQL scripts and other database objects.
• Provide database support for lower/lab environments and troubleshoot related issues.
• Monitor database environments using monitoring tools.
• Provision and support AWS RDS for MySQL and Amazon Aurora environments.
• Develop automation scripts primarily using Python.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in database engineering or administration with knowledge of DevOps practices.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and T-SQL programming.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, specifically Jenkins and GitHub Actions/Workflows.
• Proficiency in SQL Server Replication and high availability solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS RDS and Aurora MySQL.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
