Sr. Director, Security Engineering @Pinterest

Overview

Pinterest is seeking a Senior Director of Security Engineering to lead the engineering execution for the Product and Cloud Security areas of their information security program. This role involves owning a significant portion of the company's total information security program and collaborating closely with various leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end security engineering organization across product security, application security, identity and access management, vulnerability management, and more.
• Define and drive Pinterest's security engineering roadmap and translate policy into executable engineering programs.
• Serve as the executive owner of threat modeling, secure design review, and developer security enablement.
• Work with engineering and product leaders to integrate security into the software development lifecycle.
• Lead the security privacy engineering function as a product-grade capability.
• Champion foundational security platforms and libraries for secure production infrastructure.
• Oversee Cloud Governance, including security posture and governance.
• Establish metrics for Security Compliance & Accountability.
• Build partnerships with various departments, spending significant time on cross-functional alignment.
• Develop a unified operating system for security and privacy engineering.
• Mentor and lead a team of senior staff security engineers and managers.
• Shape Pinterest's approach to AI security.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in security engineering with a foundation in software engineering.
• Experience leading a large, multi-domain security engineering organization.
• Hands-on expertise in product security, application security, and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with privacy engineering and privacy-by-design architectures.
• Experience managing significant security budgets and large-scale programs.
• Ability to manage geographically distributed teams and stakeholders.
• Fluency in cloud security architecture, especially AWS.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field.

Benefits

This position offers a base salary range of $329,585 — $576,774 USD along with eligibility for equity. Details regarding culture and benefits can be found on Pinterest's website.

Location

This is a hybrid role requiring 1-2 days per week in the office, commutable from either the Palo Alto or San Francisco offices. The position is only open to US-based applicants.
