Staff Engineer, Data Products @Forter

Overview

Forter is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Data Products team, responsible for the data platform layer that underpins the company's core operations. This role involves building and operating real-time data processing systems and other crucial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Flink-based streaming pipelines at production scale.
• Manage data quality and observability infrastructure including schema contracts and freshness monitoring.
• Develop and enhance knowledge base tooling for agents and engineers.
• Implement systems for data integrity, ensuring reliable recovery from failures.
• Collaborate with the Agentic Data Foundation on company-wide data layer initiatives.
• Set technical direction for the team's systems and uphold architecture standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years in production backend or data infrastructure, including 2 years at Staff Engineer level.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems.
• Deep experience with stream processing systems (Flink, Kafka, etc.) and their operational challenges.
• Strong instincts for distributed systems, focusing on correctness and reliability.
• Experience with data quality or observability systems.
• Internal product mindset, treating teams as customers.
