Staff Platform Engineer @Postscript

Overview

Postscript is an AI messaging platform trusted by over 20,000 Shopify brands, including Brooklinen, Ruggable, True Classic, and Dr. Squatch. The company is seeking an experienced Staff Platform Engineer to help build and operate Acorn, its next-generation CDP and messaging platform, which supports high event rates for numerous merchants.

Key Responsibilities

• System & Platform Design: Own infrastructure topology, scaling, blast-radius boundaries, and other critical architecting decisions.
• Guardrail Engineering: Build validation gates, idempotency checks, drift detectors, and runbooks for safe operations.
• Escalation Tier: Diagnose novel failures and document runbooks for agents.
• Reliability, Capacity & Cost: Oversee the target of 500K events/sec including load testing and alerting.
• Security & Secrets Boundary: Manage IAM/IRSA, secret rotation, and authorization processes.
• Agent-Fleet Operability: Ensure synchronization of skills and runbooks with current operations.
• Incident Leadership: Lead incident responses and document fixes as new runbooks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in production Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS) at scale.
• Strong practice in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and GitOps/Kustomize.
• Real incident-response experience in distributed systems failures.
• Understanding of data systems including Postgres and streaming technologies.
• Experience working alongside AI agents in operational contexts.
• Proactive approach to automating operations and documenting processes.
