Staff Software Engineer - Databases, Tempo | Sweden | Remote @Grafana Labs

Overview

Grafana Labs is a remote-only company that develops Grafana Cloud, a managed observability platform used by over 10,000 organizations. They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to enhance their Tempo product, a distributed tracing backend within Grafana Cloud.

Key Responsibilities

• Set technical direction on complex problems in the roadmap.
• Lead initiatives from problem framing through rollout.
• Own architecture for Tempo components including ingestion, storage, and query.
• Design user and agent APIs for Tempo’s interfaces.
• Drive operational excellence against concrete SLOs.
• Collaborate with Product and other teams to understand usage and unblock them.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call duties.
• Contribute to open source efforts.

Requirements

• Track record in leading complex initiatives.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data systems.
• Strong software craftsmanship skills.
• Proficient in Go or similar systems programming languages.
• Experience treating SLOs as product features.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a remote environment.

Location
