Overview

The Dev Environments team sits within DoorDash's Foundations group, focusing on enhancing the local and remote developer experience for over 5000 engineers. The role of Staff Software Engineer involves setting technical direction and mentoring while tackling complex developer experience challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the architecture for developer environments across multiple companies including local and remote dev containers.
• Build scalable monorepo developer tooling and provision production-like environments quickly.
• Invent solutions for unsolved problems in the developer tooling industry, including supporting AI agent integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align efforts on ambiguous problems.
• Mentor engineers and lead hiring initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering production systems and leading cross-team projects.
• Fluency in programming languages and tooling for developer environments (e.g., Go, Python, TypeScript).
• Experience with Kubernetes and managing compute workloads.
• Knowledge of cloud networking and secure routing of traffic.
• Experience with integrating LLM/AI tooling into workflows.
• Strong communication skills for influencing stakeholders.
• Ability to build relationships with engineering teams.
• Familiarity with developer platforms or remote development tools is a plus.
