Staff Software Engineer – Identity and Access, Identity Squads | Ireland | Remote @Grafana Labs

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the technical architecture for the Identity squad’s authentication systems, including edge authentication redesign.
• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, multi-quarter initiatives spanning multiple services and teams.
• Mentor and develop senior engineers by providing technical guidance and design feedback.
• Serve as a technical authority for identity protocols, driving alignment on the implementation of OAuth, OIDC, SAML, LDAP, and SCIM.
• Drive technical alignment on authentication standards across the engineering organization.
• Represent Grafana Labs at meetups and conferences, contributing to the broader identity and authentication community.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in distributed systems engineering with Go and experience delivering large-scale production systems.
• Ability to define technical direction and drive architectural decisions independently.
• Experience operating low-latency, high-throughput services in distributed environments.
• Track record of successful delivery of complex initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Proficiency in mentoring engineers and elevating their technical skills.
• Strong understanding of SLOs, SLIs, and designing reliable systems.
• Excellent communication skills in English, capable of conveying complex decisions to diverse audiences.
• Expertise in modern identity standards and threat models, with secure implementations at scale.

Location
