Staff Software Engineer- UI Foundations Team @Amplitude

Overview

The Staff Software Engineer for the UI Foundations Team will drive architectural decisions for the frontend platform and lead the establishment of AI-driven engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the architectural foundations of the frontend platform including module boundaries and state management strategy.
• Diagnose and fix systemic performance issues, establishing performance budgets that scale across teams.
• Build and maintain build systems, local dev environments, CI/CD pipelines, and internal tooling.
• Identify bottlenecks in the engineering workflow and automate them using AI-agent-driven solutions.
• Set technical direction and standards for the frontend organization and mentor senior engineers.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to ensure foundational investments address real product-team pain points.

Requirements

• Real-world software engineering experience at a Staff level or equivalent scale.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend architecture (React or similar) along with strong infrastructure/system engineering skills.
• Experience improving frontend application performance at scale.
• Experience designing and shipping internal developer tooling or platform infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AI-agent-driven engineering workflows.
• Excellent communication skills for documents, proposals, and cross-team discussions.
