Overview
Stand.earth is seeking a creative and experienced Climate Campaigner for a part-time contract position aimed at supporting local governments in Atlantic Canada to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FFNPT).
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and expand the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty footprint across Canada, especially in PEI and New Brunswick.
- Develop and resource small-scale campaigns for local endorsements.
- Build and maintain relationships with climate activists, local government officials, and partner organizations.
- Grow a network of allies advocating for the FFNPT in Atlantic Canada.
- Draft compelling content for outreach materials.
- Support the SAFE Cities team in advancing municipal policies to reduce fossil fuel use.
- Participate in SAFE Cities events to promote green building policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in advancing government policies, ideally at the municipal level.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing public campaign strategies.
- Experience in building organizing networks with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills in English; proficiency in French is preferred.
- Ability to quickly understand complex information and identify strategic opportunities.
- Strong passion for combating the fossil fuel industry and addressing climate change.
- Knowledge of Atlantic Canada's political and cultural landscape; existing community networks valued.
- Experience with digital campaigning is preferred.
Benefits
- Part-time contract until December 2026, with possibility of extension.
- Hourly rate: $55 CAD for up to 20 hours per week.
- Fully remote position, preferably based in New Brunswick or PEI.
- Occasional travel within Canada may be required.
