    1. Coordinator: Research, Development and Monitoring (RDM)

    Location: Gqeberha, South Africa

    Job Summary:
    Help drive credible research, data collection, and monitoring systems that inform SST’s programmes and ensure measurable impact in tackling marine pollution and strengthening waste management systems.

    Support delivery by coordinating fieldwork, data collection, research logistics, documentation, and operational research processes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support implementation of research, monitoring, and learning activities in line with approved plans and methodologies.
    • Coordinate logistics for fieldwork, sampling campaigns, and data collection exercises.
    • Maintain accurate operational research records, including datasheets, sampling logs, and metadata.

    • Support coordination with research partners, laboratories, and field teams.
    • Act as operational contact for research activities, escalating issues as needed.
    • Assist with data collation, cleaning, and documentation for qualitative and quantitative research.

    • Update research and monitoring databases and trackers.
    • Contribute to programme reporting and MEL documentation.
    • Maintain expenditure trackers and support operational expenditure management.
    • Share research progress, risks, and data gaps with relevant managers.
    • Contribute field insights, photographs, and updates for organisational learning and communications.

    Requirements:

    • Master’s degree in environmental sciences or related field.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in project coordination, research, and analysis, preferably in NGO or sustainability sectors.
    • Strong report writing and research publication experience.

    • Proven ability to develop and follow structured systems and timelines.
    • Experience in stakeholder engagement, M&E, and digital data tools.
    • Budget tracking, procurement, and resource allocation skills.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within South Africa.
    • Proficiency in English; additional African languages advantageous.

    2. Coordinator: Community Upliftment and Enterprise Development (CUED)

    Location: Gqeberha, South Africa

    Job Summary:
    Support delivery by coordinating logistics, stakeholder engagement, and field activities for community-facing programmes that promote sustainable livelihoods and circular economy initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support implementation of community and enterprise activities per programme plans.
    • Coordinate logistics for workshops, training, and community engagements.
    • Maintain operational records including attendance, meeting notes, and follow-up actions.

    • Support engagement with schools, community groups, businesses, and local stakeholders.
    • Act as operational contact, escalating issues to managers.
    • Support data collection and documentation for enterprise and community activities.

    • Contribute to programme reporting and MEL documentation.
    • Update expenditure trackers and support risk management.
    • Capture and share field insights for organisational learning and communication.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Development Studies, Business Management, Environmental Education, or related.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in project coordination, community or enterprise development.
    • Proven skills in planning, implementation, and stakeholder engagement.

    • Basic understanding of M&E and digital data tools.
    • Budget management and resource coordination skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within South Africa.
    • Proficiency in English; additional African languages advantageous.

    3. Finance and HR Administrator

    Location: Gqeberha, South Africa

    Job Summary:
    Provide essential administrative support for finance and human resources, ensuring effective governance and compliance, enabling SST’s programmes and team to operate smoothly.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Process invoices, receipts, reimbursements, and payments.
    • Maintain financial and HR records.
    • Support budget preparation and expenditure tracking.
    • Assist with annual audits and compliance documentation.

    • Manage fixed asset registers and insurance renewals.
    • Support payroll, benefits, onboarding, and exit processes.
    • Maintain employee records and HR databases.
    • Support travel expense reconciliations and staff claims.
    • Provide general administrative support and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

    Requirements:

    • Diploma or degree in administration, finance, HR, or related.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in finance or HR support, ideally in NGO/NPO environments.
    • Strong organisational, accuracy, and communication skills.

    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel essential).
    • Discretion and ability to handle confidential info.
    • Valid driver’s license and comfortable driving solo.
    • Passionate about SST’s mission.
