Tax Lead @Notion

Overview

Notion is seeking a Tax Lead to join its global Tax and Treasury team. This role is pivotal in navigating a complex global tax environment and developing tax-efficient strategies that support business expansion and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert, advising on tax implications of special projects.
• Direct all U.S. federal, state, local, GAAP, and SEC tax reporting requirements; prepare and review tax provisions, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Drive operational efficiency by building a modern tax roadmap to automate processes and enhance internal controls.
• Support IPO-readiness tax work streams, including SEC reporting requirements and audit coordination.
• Oversee global tax compliance requirements, ensuring timely and accurate filings and documentation.
• Develop audit defense strategies and advise leadership on controversy risk and audit developments.
• Collaborate with Legal, FP&A, Accounting, and Treasury to implement tax-efficient global structures.
• Build tax forecasts and reporting cadences for leadership decision-making.
• Mentor and guide a high-performing tax team, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA and/or Master of Taxation preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or at a multinational, high-growth company.
• Hands-on experience with preparing quarterly and annual tax provisions.
• Experience in reviewing tax due diligence materials and supporting M&A transactions.
• Extensive experience in financial reporting, internal controls, and tax compliance.
• Proven ability to manage ambiguity and deliver high-quality outcomes in fast-paced environments.
• Public company experience, including SEC reporting and SOX controls.

Benefits

Notion offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The estimated base salary range for this role is $210,000 - $240,000 per year based on location and candidate experience.

Location

This role is based in San Francisco, California. The team works from the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
