About the Consultancy Opportunity

The successful consultant will work directly with five independent media organisations in Kenya, helping them identify opportunities to integrate AI technologies into newsroom operations and editorial processes.

The assignment focuses on enabling media organisations to adopt AI responsibly while maintaining high standards of journalistic integrity in accordance with Reuters Trust Principles.

Over the consultancy period, the consultant will assess newsroom needs, recommend suitable AI solutions, provide tailored training, and mentor participating organisations as they implement AI-driven improvements.

Consultancy Objectives

The consultancy seeks to strengthen independent newsrooms by supporting the ethical use of AI across editorial and operational functions.

Conducting comprehensive assessments of participating newsrooms to identify opportunities for AI integration.

Developing customised AI adoption workplans tailored to each newsroom.
Recommending practical AI tools that address newsroom challenges and operational bottlenecks.

Providing hybrid and online mentoring over a period of approximately three to four months.
