The Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations is inviting applications for temporary full-time UN General Assembly Policy Adviser positions based in New York. These roles provide a unique opportunity to engage directly with multilateral diplomacy and contribute to Ireland’s policy priorities within the United Nations system.

Key Responsibilities

Engaging in UN meetings, negotiations, and multilateral discussions
Supporting Ireland’s policy priorities through analysis and reporting
Preparing briefing materials and policy documents
Conducting research on committee-specific issues
Participating in EU and international coordination processes
Assisting in organising diplomatic events and official visits
Supporting communications through content development
Providing logistical support during high-level engagements

Requirements

A relevant academic qualification
Strong understanding of the United Nations system
Knowledge of multilateral diplomacy and international relations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and research capabilities
Ability to synthesise complex information clearly and concisely
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and within a team

Benefits

Salary: $78,736 per annum (pro rata)
Paid leave: 20 days annually (pro rata)
Health insurance: 80% of medical and dental costs covered
Work schedule: Approximately 37 hours net per week
